CROSBY - Samuel "Shebi" Vranish, age 89, of Crosby, died on Jan. 11, 2010, at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. He was born on Oct. 23, 1920, in Cuyuna to Robert and Millie (Ranih) Vranish.
He married Florence Irene Hoggarth on July 21, 1942, in Brainerd. He was a WWII Army veteran. He was a retired employee of Inland Steel with 31 years of service. He was a member of the Myrin-James American Legion Post No. 443, Ironton, and St. George's Serbian Orthodox Church, Duluth.
He is survived by two sons, Michael Vranish, of Black River Falls, Wis., and Grant Vranish, of Black River Falls, Wis.; three daughters, Vicki (Rick) Marsh, of Deerwood, Darvi (Frank) Steponek, of Black River Falls, Wis., Tami (Randy) Gates, of Black River Falls, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Florence; his parents; two brothers, Mike and Peter Vranish; and two sisters, Doreen Vranish and Danalda Faverite.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby with full military rites. Friends may call on Saturday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
