ST. PAUL - Three of the Brainerd Family YMCA's 17 Youth in Government participants were honored this month at the YIG Model Assembly in St. Paul.

Brainerd High School senior Logan Mohs served in the post of president of the Wabasha Senate. BHS senior Sara Swensen was a Senate floor leader and was awarded the title of "Outstanding Member." BHS freshman Nick Swensen also was awarded "Outstanding Member" in the House.

Youth in Government is a statewide civic education and leadership development initiative in which YMCAs, schools and community organizations involve students in hands-on learning. Twenty-seven of the 40 delegations were from YMCAs. More than 1,400 students from around the state attended the event from Jan. 4-7.

The Brainerd Family YMCA has participated in the program for the past 15 years. More information about next year's YIG program may be obtained by calling the YMCA at 829-4767.
