Try kicking your leg in the air 50 times in 135 seconds, that's what the Brainerd High School Kixters danceline will have to do when it competes in the upcoming National Dance Teams Championships at Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven Fla. The Kixters will face off against 99 other groups in two divisions.

30 years ago (1977)

The intense cold that has been gripping this area is causing two unusual winter problems for the city crews - frozen water and sewer lines and icier than normal streets.

The Brainerd School Board last night approved $41,090 in capital outlay expenditures for the coming year, a decided decrease from the amount budgeted this year.

Positive assurance that the Benedictine Sisters Benevolent Association, owners and operators of St. Joseph Hospital, will build a new hospital here was received Monday by the president of the order.

80 years ago (1927)

The Lions organized two squad formations for a six weeks attendance contest. Talks were given by the opposing captains in the attendance contest. James Alderman talked on "Nothing at All" while W.P. Tyrholm talked on "Less than Nothing."
