Body found in lake is Hesner's

Posted: Friday, January 12, 2007

The body of a woman found Dec. 23 in Borden Lake has been identified as Nancy Lou Hesner.

Hesner was identified by the Crow Wing County coroner's office Thursday through dental records, Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl said.

However, Dahl added that the cause of Hesner's death has not been determined. Investigators have not ruled out foul play in Hesner's disappearance and death.

"We have nothing more right now than the identification itself," Dahl said.

Hesner was reported missing Dec. 18 by her husband's Twin Cities-based attorney, Robert Sicoli.

According to a Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension search warrant, Sicoli told sheriff's investigators that Hesner was missing, may have killed herself and that she was in Borden Lake.

On Dec. 23, divers found Hesner's body at the bottom of Borden Lake, about 300 feet from Hesner's house.

According to the search warrant, Hesner was wearing no clothing, had a rope tied around her body and was anchored to the bottom of the lake with a 25-pound weight.
