Weather makes for busy day for troopers
The Brainerd State Patrol District reported between 30-50 vehicles in ditches within miles of each other along Highway 10 south of Little Falls as a result of Sunday's snowfall. Troopers from St. Cloud and Brainerd worked with about six two-truck operators to handle the situation.

It's better to light a candle than curse the dark. As I was thinking of the new year coming, I was thinking how little control we have of our lives these days. Years ago everyone made New Year's resolutions, now when I ask if, not did, anyone make any resolutions, "I hear, "What's the use, I don't keep them anyway," and other hopeless answers.
OUR OPINION: CAMP RIPLEY
Demands on U.S. military personnel have increased dramatically since military action in Afghanistan and Iraq began. The National Guard and Army Reserve are important parts of the war on terrorism and making sure the soldiers are properly prepared for their assignments is a key component of success.
Poker tourney reflects a bigger problem
I'm sure it was disappointing to the BHS students who worked hard to plan the Texas Hold'Em benefit (Jan. 7, Brainerd Dispatch) to learn that the event will likely be cancelled. Likewise, I'm sure school administrators are disappointed that this situation has occurred.
