STAPLES -- Hospital officials said a Staples man was in good condition this morning after suffering gunshot wounds in what police called a probable road rage incident early Tuesday in Staples.
The victim, Russell Dahl, 69, is being treated in the St. Cloud Hospital.
A 31-year-old Staples man was arrested and is being held in the Todd County jail pending charges of attempted second-degree murder and second-degree assault.
Second man dies from accident
GARRISON -- A second person has died as a result of a two-vehicle accident Saturday south of Garrison, the State Patrol said today.
Michael Becker, 34, Eden Prairie, died Tuesday at a Twin Cities hospital.
Becker was driving northbound on Highway 169 when he crossed the center line and hit a vehicle driven by Rudolph Zagar Jr., 47, Arden Hills, who died at the scene.
The accident was reported at 9:33 a.m. Saturday one-quarter mile north of the Mille Lacs County line in Crow Wing County.
Post office on holiday schedule
The Brainerd Post Office will operate on a holiday schedule Monday to mark Martin Luther King's birthday.
Postmaster D.A. Rasmussen said regular residential and business deliveries will not be made Monday and the usual post office lobby services will not be available with the exception of the post office lock box service. Express Mail service will continue.
Mail pickup from collection boxes also will be on a holiday schedule.
Mail services wil be available from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the branch stations located at Triangle Store in Baxter and the Triangle Store at 421 N.E. Washington St.
Sheriff issues thin ice caution
WALKER -- Cass County Sheriff Jim Dowson issued a reminder to the public about unsafe ice conditions.
Dowson issued the reminder after two people went through the ice in Walker Bay of Leech Lake on Monday.
Both escaped without injury.
The ice in the bay is unstable because of the warm weather.
