Immigration issues will be the topic to be discussed at noon Thursday for the next Rosenmeier Forum at Central Lakes College in Brainerd.
The free, public event will be in the Dryden Theatre and the presenter will be Gloria Contreras Edin, executive director for Centro Legal. Edin is an attorney and consultant working with local corporations, nonprofit organizations and foundations. Her work on immigration has been recognized locally and nationally. She serves on the Minnesota State Senate's Commission for welcoming new Americans and on the Minnesota Supreme Court's statewide legal service commission.
For the past 10 years, Edin has spent her career working with immigrants on issues which affect their lives.
Edin is a member of the American Bar Association, Minnesota Bar Association and Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association. She is engaged in Minnesota's philanthropic community.
She has recently been appointed to the Charities Review Council Board and is a trustee for the Minnesota Council on Foundations, the Initiative Foundation of Minnesota and the Women's Foundation of Minnesota.
The forum is a series hosted by the Gordon Rosenmeier Center for State and Local Government at CLC.
