Brooks occasionally visited and enjoyed Pukwana's grand porch and sunset view.
When Alaska was still a territory, Virginia and children traveled many hours over the Alcan Highway where they would meet Virgil and spend the winters and where their son, Brian, was born. In their retirement years, Virgil and Virginia would spend their winters in Logan, N.M.
