Extravaganza: It's more than just a fishing contest

During the past 20 years, the Brainerd Jaycees $150,000 Ice Fishing Extravaganza has raised nearly $2.5 million for about 50 local nonprofit organizations. Of this, $1.7 million went to Confidence Learning Center, which is the primary benefactor of the event.

Here's a look at who has chaired the event and how much was raised over the last two decades:

1991: Chris Dalbec, $14,523.

1992: Dr. Kevin Dens, $19,285.

1993: Bob Slaybaugh, $45,657.

1994: Don Ryan, $10,174.

1995: Bill Rickmeyer, $74,986.

1996: Ron Imgrund, $37,759.

1997: Bart Harmer, $65,153.

1998: Ron Meyer, $114,334.

1999: Greg Neff, $131,270.

2000: Iain Olness, $193,000.

2001: Ed Vobejda, $205,085.

2002: Jim Davis, $97,057.

2003: Steve Jobe, $206,440.

2004: Brian Lindberg, $252,660.

2005: Shawn Ridler, $166,897.

2006: Mary Devine, $195,557.

2007: Taylor Fitterer, $211,528.

2008: Brian Sedlachek, $228,000.

2009: Jeff Hegg, $169,800.

2010: Brent Morris.
