Wadena ambulance operations director reappointed to state post

WADENA - Gary S. Pearson of Wadena was reappointed by Gov. Tim Pawlenty to the Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board. He was appointed to a four-year term that will expire Jan. 6, 2014.

Pearson is director of outstate ambulance operations and support services for North Memorial Ambulance Service, where he has administrative responsibility for eight ambulance regions and 17 ambulance bases. He is also an adjunct professor in the master of arts in management program at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.

He has more than 35 years of experience in the EMS and law enforcement fields. He is a member of the Minnesota State Trauma Advisory Council, the Minnesota Ambulance Association Board, the State Stroke Committee and has a degree in business management from the College of St. Scholastica, a mini-MBA in health care management from the University of St. Thomas and a bachelor of science degree from Bemidji State University.

Pearson, who has been on the EMS board since October of 2009, is reappointed to a position for a representative of ambulance service directors.

Meeting day changed

A previously scheduled Union Co-operative Insurance meeting scheduled for Thursday at the Eagles Club in Brainerd has been changed to Jan. 22.

Blood drive opportunities

MOTLEY - For those interested in donating blood, go to the Motley-Staples Middle School in Motley from noon to 6 p.m. Jan. 18 and from noon to 6 p.m. Jan. 19 at Emily City Hall.

Crime Free Multi-Housing meeting planned for Monday

All rental property owners and managers are welcome to attend monthly Crime Free Multi-Housing meetings. The meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at 1 p.m. at the Brainerd Police Department. There is no charge to attend the meetings.

The next meeting is Monday.

DNR considers muskie waters

The Associated Press reports the DNR is considering whether to stock muskies in five new waters starting in the fall of 2011, including Roosevelt Lake in Cass and Crow Wing counties, Upper South Long Lake and Lower South Long Lake in Crow Wing County.

The DNR will post information on the proposed stocking at boat landings at the five lakes this spring and conduct public meetings this summer and fall.
