20 years ago (1988)

Washington Middle School is displaying a different kind of project in its lobby. Since Monday, 40 bags containing more than a million tabs from soft drink cans have sat at an entrance to the school's auditorium. The tabs were collected and counted by Washington students over the past four years.

30 years ago (1978)

Marv Hedberg, manager of Northwestern Bell in Brainerd will retire March 10 after 21 years as manager and 40 years with Northwestern Bell. He has played a vital role in the business, civic and governmental life of the area.

40 years ago (1968)
