The Brainerd High School Warrior Dance Team "The Kixters" will host the Central Lakes Conference Dance Team meet at 11 a.m. Jan. 17.
Teams in the conference that will compete include Brainerd, Bemidji, Sartell, Sauk Rapids, Alexandria, St. Cloud Tech, St. Cloud Apollo and Willmar.
Kixters to put on two benefit shows
The Brainerd High School Warrior Dance Team "The Kixters" will perform two benefit shows Jan. 16 in the high school gymnasium.
The shows will be performed at 6:30 and 8 p.m. The junior varsity, varsity and Just For Kix youth dance teams will participate.
All proceeds will go to Garrett Olson, said Cindy Clough, Kixters coach. Clough said Garrett, whose dad works in the Brainerd Just For Kix office, has a cleft lip and palate. Garrett had one surgery in December and will have another surgery when he turns 1 to close his palate.
Admission to the show is $2.
United Way to host session for nonprofits
The Crow Wing County United Way will have an information and application session for all nonprofit (501c3) agencies looking for funding from United Way.
More than $400,000 was raised by the Crow Wing County community to be given to programs that affect this area. The nonprofit agencies need to attend either on Jan. 21 or Jan. 23 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Ramada Inn.

Chamber to host two legislators
LITTLE FALLS -- Rep. Greg Blaine, R-Little Falls, and Sen. Paul Koering, R-Fort Ripley, will address issues they expect to come up in the 2004 legislative session and answer questions from 8 to 10 a.m. Jan. 16 at the Initiative Foundation at 405 First St. S.E. in Little Falls.
The meeting is sponsored by the Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce. To ensure adequate seating those interested in attending are asked to phone in a reservation to the chamber by calling (320) 632-5155.
