LITTLE FALLS -- Merlin Becker, 69, Little Falls, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at St. Cloud Hospital.
He was born March 28, 1933, in the village of Deer Creek to Wilbur and Hazel (Kent) Becker. He was educated in Deer Creek and graduated from high school in Little Falls. He entered the Army on July 19, 1950, and served in Korea. He was discharged from the Army in October 1953. He married Martha Rekowski on Nov. 24, 1955, in Sobieski. They lived in Little Falls for three years and moved to northeast Minneapolis. He worked as a plant superintendent for the Carter Day Co., which manufactured sheet metal. After retiring, they moved to Little Falls. He worked for Falls Fabrication until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Allan Becker, Little Falls, and Eugene Becker, Little Falls; two daughters, Monica DeZurik, Randall, and Denise Price, Dayton; eight grandchildren; a brother, Daniel Becker, Hutchinson; and two sisters, Shirley Bernardson, Fridley, and Donna Naab, New Auburn.
His parents and a brother, Larry, died earlier.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Mark Innocenti officiating. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Camp Ripley with military rites provided by American Legion Post No. 46 and VFW Post No. 1112.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, with Christian Mothers praying the rosary at 4:30 p.m. and parish prayers at 6:30 p.m., and an hour before services Friday at Brenny Funeral Home, West Chapel, Little Falls.
