WALKER -- The Cass County Board voted Tuesday to pay the budgeted $16,343 contribution to the Initiative Fund at Little Falls.
The Initiative Fund reported approving a $5,000 payment to Cass County for the Extension Service's shoreland management education program. Additionally, that program will receive $15,000 over two years from the McKnight Foundation.
Norway Lake Association will receive $5,000 from the Initiative Foundation for its Healthy Lakes Program.
The Cass board voted to support Beltrami County's request to the state for a tax break for Ottertail Power Company's proposed electric generating facility in Beltrami County. Without at tax break, that firm proposes to locate the new facility in North Dakota. It will handle peak electricity supplies.
The board accepted a $1,000 donation from Maxson Van Eps American Legion Post in Backus for the county Veterans Services transportation program.
