Six hundred students from five area high schools attended Career Exploration Day at the Brainerd campus of Central Lakes College on Jan. 4. They each attended six sessions of their choice from a slate of 37 presentations throughout the day.
The students, mostly sophomores, were from Aitkin, Crosby-Ironton, Pequot Lakes, Pillager and Pine River-Backus.
Presenters included the following, who represented careers in which they are either currently employed or have been, as well as those who train people for these careers:

Gary Carson, natural resource instructor at Central Lakes College, offered tips to high school students about education needed for a variety of jobs available in the field. CLC hosted Career Exploration Day for 600 sophomores, with 37 programs presented in six, half-hour sessions.
The next Career Exploration Day will be at Northwest Technical College, Wadena, on Feb. 1 for students from eight schools -- Wadena-Deer Creek, Bertha-Hewitt, Menahga, Sebeka, Verndale, Eagle Valley, Parkers Prairie and Henning.
Other Career Exploration Days will be Feb. 22 at the Staples campus of CLC for students from Staples-Motley and Browerville and March 12 at the Brainerd campus of CLC for students from Brainerd.
