A 39-year-old man attempted to pull a knife on a law enforcement officer during an arrest in Brainerd on Jan. 4, the Crow Wing County's Sheriff's Department reported today.
As part of a Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division investigation, the suspect, Roger Lars Robertson, was arrested after a traffic stop in Brainerd.
The sheriff's department reported Robertson was found in possession of about 6 ounces of methamphetamine, more than $4,000 in cash, packaging materials, scales and 22 knives.
Robertson was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first-degree sale of a controlled substance and possession of dangerous weapons. Robertson was arraigned Monday. His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 28.
The Brainerd Police Department assisted in the arrest. Brainerd Chief John Bolduc stated the officer involved demonstrated "excellent judgment and skill in apprehending this armed suspect." Bolduc also stated in a news release that this was the second knife-wielding suspect within one week.
