The new year came very quietly at our house, and I took some time to ponder my expectations for the next year. Even though I'm not one to make New Year's resolutions, I resolved to take life one day at a time and to live life to the best of my ability. The Brainerd Fire Department responded at 11:26 a.m. Tuesday to smoke inside Brainerd Medical Center. The smoke was due to construction. Firefighters extracted the smoke using fans for ventilation.

Digital TV conversion fast approaching
