CROSBY - The Crosby-Ironton School Board elected Bob Sandin as chairman in a unanimous vote Monday.
Sandin was the sole nomination.
"I promise you I will do my utmost to do the best job," Sandin said, adding that the board chair's role is something people are more likely to want to run away from than accept. Sandin thanked board member Mike Domin for his service as chairman during the previous year.
"We are facing a lot of difficult decisions here with this board," Sandin said. "I want to look forward with optimism. I want to look forward with positiveness that we are going to move forward, that we are going to overcome some of the pitfalls we have to get through and some of the challenges we have to face."
Sandin said he was encouraged by working with the other people at the board table and who went to school at Crosby-Ironton.
"I can assure you that we are all concerned about education in C-I and we want it to succeed."
Board member Barb Neprud was selected vice chairwoman. Board member Trista Rice was selected board clerk and treasurer.
In other business, the board accepted board salaries at $150 for regular board meetings, $35 for special meetings and committee meetings in which the board member is appointed to serve on the committee and $185 for board chair.
