Flyer boys rally before losing 6-5

DETROIT LAKES -- The Little Falls Flyers rallied from a 5-0 deficit to tie the Detroit Lakers before falling 6-5 in non-conference boys' hockey Saturday night.

Unanswered Flyer goals by David Sperl, Peter Herman, Luke Godzala, Chris Dobis and Godzala enabled Little Falls to battle back to a tie with 2:12 left in the final period. Detroit Lakes won it with 1:36 remaining.

"They scored on a big, booming slap shot on top of the circle," Flyers coach Tony Couture said. "There was an errant pass in the neutral zone. After the slow start we switched up our system and started checking, playing more physical with them. We changed our forecheck a little."

CHISHOLM -- A rough third period resulted in a difficult 5-4 loss for Crosby-Ironton/Aitkin against Chisholm/Cook Saturday night.

"We had them on the ropes going into the third and to give up three goals and lose was hard," said C-I/A coach Dave Niemi.

Chad Raushel, Trevor Betley, Dustin Heins and Andrew Huxford scored for the Rangers. C-I/A goalie Dave Williams made 43 saves.
