The Deerwood Lakes Lions donated Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners to 17 families including seniors during the past holiday season. They also collected and donated Christmas gifts for the Women's and Children Center, and purchased socks and hats for 17 girls and 17 boys, for children ages 3-5 at the Head Start program. $500 was donated to the Cuyuna area food shelf and another $500 to the Needy Children's fund.
Pillager Booster Club meeting

2000 Dairy Princess contest
The search is on for candidates for the 2000 Junior and Senior Dairy Princess contest in Crow Wing County. A candidate must be a "Minnesota Dairy Farm Girl" between the ages of 14 and 24. Aitkin Riverboat Reelers
The Aitkin Riverboat Reelers will be square dancing mainstream from 2-4:30 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Aitkin VFW. There will be plus from 1:30-2 p.m. Bob Barnabee will be the caller. All square dancers are welcome.

The WHS Class of 1955 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Sawmill Inn to plan a 45th class reunion.
The National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Brainerd Public Library. Lunch will follow the meeting.
BHS Letter jacket orders
Letter jacket orders for Brainerd High School will be taken now through Friday in the high school marketing room, A-212. To place an order, students must know the correct jacket size, fill out a jacket order form and pay either a $70 down payment or a $140 full payment. If a down payment is made, the remaining $70 will be due when the jacket is picked up. The jackets should arrive in early March.
There are also two jackets for sale at the W.O. They are $100 each. Please check them out as well.

The January meeting of the N.M.W.G. will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Ron Rader home in Pequot Lakes. Two speakers from the University of Minnesota will be there and the topic will be wood properties, which will include controlling wood moisture and wood movement, how to cure and dry properly, what effect finishes have on wood and the proper storage of wood for final use.
