All but two area school districts have signed teacher contracts for next year, the exceptions being Backus and Pillager. If they don't have contracts by January they will face state penalties of $25 per pupil being deducted from their state aid.

The Brainerd Warriors stalked the Fergus Falls Otters, bagging a 52-47 victory in the roughest, fastest event of the cage season. It was the second defeat of the season for Fergus, while the Warriors got their 11th win in 12 starts this season.

Traveling at speeds up to 35 miles per hour, O.W. Van Doren, of Merrifield, ran down and shot a large wolf on Big Pelican Lake after a two-hour chase. He covered practically every section of the icy lake in his car to keep the wolf from escaping into the woods.
100 years ago (1910)
S.W. Quinn, chief of police, discovered a man around town in pitiable condition. He asked to sleep in the jail for want of a room, and complained of a lame shoulder. He turned out to have a broken collarbone, which was set and bandaged at no charge.
