UTAH -- Austin Leir Harris, age 80, left this earth on Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, to rejoin his wife and daughter and to be with his Heavenly Father.
He was born May 22, 1923, in Hackensack, Minn., a son of Henry Raymond and Carrie Leir Harris. He married Joyce Marie Wrobel. She preceded him in death in 1982. Ozzie was a selfless man who enjoyed the simple things of life. He had a great sense of humor and a passion for old trains and John Deere Tractors. He loved the West Coast. He served in the US Army during World War II. He was a master heavy-equipment operator.
Survivors include a daughter and two sons, Carrie Beth Hofer, Goshen, Utah, Clayton (Kathy) Harris, Sandy, Ore., Kim John Harris, Springfield, Ore., stepdaughter, Judy Ann York; grandchildren, Kyle (Sherrie) Hofer, Cody (Heather) Hofer, Jacob (Kathy) Harris, and Jason Harris; great-grandchildren, Courtney C. Hofer, Carrie Ann Hofer, Amira Brynn Hofer, Korban Bryce Marshall-Hofer; four sisters, Virginia Bollig, Juanitta Lind and Jean Bliss, all of Brainerd, and Twilla Danzig, Los Angeles.
His daughter, Linda Lee, and sister, Billie, preceded him in death.
