20 years ago (1984)

With plans to renovate the Brainerd Mall at an impasse, Brainerd and Baxter city officials met in a "work session" to look at a possible $9.7 million expansion of the Westgate Mall.

30 years ago (1974)

Blaze orange stickers imprinted with the message that "a child sleeps here" were demonstrated by Bill Fox, the Elks club member who came up with the idea. The stickers will be distributed throughout the area to be posted on bedroom windows where children sleep to aid firemen.

40 years ago (1964)

Over 250 teenagers danced last Friday night to the music of the Travalons at the YMCA. The dance was the second of the season planned by the "Y" Activity Club.

60 years ago (1944)

Miss Barbara Lee, Past Honored Queen of the Job's Daughters, is succeeded by Miss Marilyn Ribbel. Barbara Lee is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lee, Miss Ribbel is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. George Ribbel.

80 years ago (1924)

100 years ago (1904)

Instead of charging 50 an hour in the future at the Ideal Billiard Parlor, Manager Larabee will charge 5 a cue, issuing 5 checks. It is a pleasant place to spend the evening.
