WALKER -- Cass County Administrator Robert Yochum reported to the county board Tuesday he has received 52 reservations from people planning to attend a 1 p.m. meeting Friday concerning how to apply for and encourage development under the state JOBZ program.
Cass County Economic Development Corp., Region 5 and the county will jointly sponsor the training session for cities, townships and business community representatives at Deep Portage Conservation Reserve, east of Hackensack.
Cass will receive $446,818.49 from the Chippewa National Forest 25 percent fund this year. Of that, $223,409.24 will go to the county highway department, with the balance divided among school districts within that federal forest.
The 2003 county highway budget had anticipated receiving $175,000.
The county will ask the Leech Lake Reservation to update quantities of improved land parcels within the reservation to get a more accurate count of residential properties contributing to solid waste disposal in Cass County. A 1995 agreement with the reservation bases reservation contributions to county disposal costs upon the number of land parcels within the reservation that have buildings on them.
Cass will pay $10,997 to the Association of Minnesota Counties this year for membership in that policy-making and lobbying organization.
The commissioners approved final plats for Buena Vista Estates in Pine Lake Township and Roosevelt Shores in Crooked Lake Township.
They approved a change in the county personnel policy manual to make policies on accrued leave and fringe benefits previously outlined in union contracts apply to non-union personnel as well.
