Fred E. Schueppert, 89, 2406 Woodridge Lane, Brainerd, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village. He was born on Sept. 23, 1915, in Milwaukee. He moved to Cloquet in 1962. He was a retired manager of transportation at Potlatch Corp and vice president of the Duluth and Northeastern Railroad. He was long active in transportation education. He authored numerous courses and installed and conducted adult education courses at the University of Minnesota at Duluth, University of Wisconsin and Duluth Area Vocational-Technical Institute.
In the last 30 years he was active in development of recreational properties on Gull Lake and other area lakes. He divided his time between Gull Lake and his winter home in Florida. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Vero Beach, Fla., and Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa.
He is survived by his wife, Jean W.; his sons, Richard F. Schueppert, of Independence, Mo., David G. (Barbara) Schueppert, of Bemidji, and Timothy J. (Sue Frank) Schueppert, of Eden Prairie, Minn.; and six grandchildren; and a stepsister, Lorraine Cavanaugh, of Franklin, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa with Pastor Christian Meier officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials are preferred to American Cancer Society, Lutheran Church of the Cross, Nisswa, Minn., and Trinity Lutheran, Merrill, Wis.
