PINE RIVER -- The fourth annual Cabin Fever Day for Women, sponsored by Pine River-Backus Community Education, will run 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 5 at Pine River-Backus School in Pine River.
The day will feature a variety of workshops, motivational speaker, luncheon, a walking labyrinth and displays and vendors from the community.
The day is open to women of all ages as a chance to take time to relax, have fun, network, gain skills and resources, and celebrate as women in community. The day will reflect a subtle theme of "earth" as a source of grounding, strength, renewal, sustenance and connection.
Nancy Scheibe of Ely will present the keynote, "Grounding in Your Wisdom." She paddled 575 miles of the Mississippi River from Lake Itasca to Red Wing last summer along with paddling partner Heather Jeske to celebrate the value, power and sacred abilities of women. Scheibe held nine gatherings of women around Sacred Peace Fires where the women shared their stories and wisdom. Scheibe will share her journey and inspire participants to recognize the wise woman in them who has the capacity to make a difference.
Scheibe is a nationally known artist, author, speaker and intuitive guide. Her mission is to help people connect to their truth, facilitate healing and assist them in living their purpose. She has a degree in communications and counseling psychology and experience in individual, group and workshop facilitation. She is the author of "Women's Experience Coloring Book: A Playful Journey in Healing and Hope" and "Superior Walk" (due out spring 2006), and is currently working on "A River of Wisdom" (the story of her journey down the Mississippi).
