CROSBY -- The Staples-Motley Cardinals erased a 33-30 halftime deficit and went on to post a 58-49 victory over the Crosby-Ironton Rangers in a Mid-State Conference clash Friday.

Laura Warn led the Cardinals offensively with 17 points and Alisha Miller was also in double figures with 10 points.

C-I was paced by Kati Galovich and Kim Rosecrans who each tossed in 17 points.

PINE RIVER -- The Pine River-Backus Tigers girls' basketball team defeated the Ogilvie Lions 68-41 in a non-conference game Friday night.

The Tigers were led by Sarah Laposky who finished with 33 points and Brittany Nelson who had 11.

"Our girls played exceptionally well and really intimidated them defensively," said Pine River coach Tom Lupella.

BLACKDUCK -- Jennifer Straughn scored 26 points but the Aitkin Gobblers were still overcome by the Blackduck Drakes 61-58 in non-conference girls' basketball Friday.

Straughn finished with 12 rebounds and five assists. Teammate Abbey Olson finished with 14 points, 12 of which came from behind the arc.
