LITTLE FALLS -- Loren R. Plettl, 39, Little Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at St. Cloud Hospital.
He was born Dec. 6, 1961, in Little Falls to Richard and Doris (Norberg) Plettl. He graduated from Little Falls High School in 1980 and attended St. Cloud State University for a year. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1981 and worked as an aircraft maintenance crew chief in Dover, Del., until he was honorably discharged in 1985. He then worked at Camp Ripley and served in the Minnesota National Guard for 12 years. He moved to St. Cloud and worked at Schmidt Labs and later at Lans Lenses. In 1997, he moved to Pierz to help care for his stepfather and returned to Little Falls in 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Richard J. "Ricky" and Aaron J. Plettl, both of Little Falls; his mother, Doris D. Poepping, Little Falls; and two sisters, Sharon Ehresmann, Plymouth, and Sandra Nelson, Coon Rapids.
His father, Richard Plettl, died in 1979, and his stepfather, Rod Poepping, died in 1997.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. today, with parish prayers at 5 p.m., and from 8 a.m. until services Monday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls.
