Three new commissioners assumed their duties yesterday at the annual reorganization meeting of the Crow Wing County Board. Herb Thiesse, Mary Koep and John Ferrari were sworn in.

Crow Wing County gained a total of 2,690 persons during the past 10 years and the city of Brainerd lost 1,231, according to final census figures.

Two Washington High School debaters were featured at today's noon meeting of Kiwanis. Mary Cockrell and Winston Borden debated the subject, "Resolved That The United Nations Should be Significantly Strengthened."

-- Gregory Park has a fine, well-kept skating rink due to the efforts of Carl Wright and other young men.

-- Freddie Sewell, whose illness was reported last week, is slowly but steadily recovering.
-- One of John Weber's horses is sick. We have not yet learned the nature of the disease, but we expect it's the grip.
-- Sammy Anderson is driving his father's team this winter hauling wood. Pretty good for a 10-year-old lad.
