WASHINGTON (AP) -- Rep. Mark Kennedy, R-Minn., said Friday he has been named to the Agriculture and Transportation Committees.
"I feel very fortunate to have gotten them," Kennedy said. "You couldn't pick two better committees. They represent the two most important issues to my district."
The Democrat that Kennedy defeated last year, former Rep. David Minge, served on the Agriculture and Budget Committees, as well as the Joint Economic Committee, a House-Senate panel.
Kennedy said that he planned to focus on making improvements to the federal farm bill, including changes to the crop insurance program.
He said he'll also seek to find ways to increase demand for agricultural products.
On the transportation panel, Kennedy said, he would seek to get funding for roads in the district that need repair.
