I'd like to thank Gary Walters for his dedication to Kinship Partners and his recent challenge. Because of his columns, I took up his challenge and managed to lose more than 20 pounds, significantly lowering my blood pressure and lowering my cholesterol by 71 points. I've lost weight before but it always came back. Especially helpful was the idea of "no guilt." As he suggested, if I ate too much one day, I started over the next, realizing it didn't mean I was a failure. I'm grateful to Walters and the Dispatch for the encouragement and incentive to make positive lifestyle changes.
Feel sorry for you
To the people in this town who have never made a mistake and think you are so much above others, why must you look down at people who make mistakes, talk behind their back and think you are so much better? I feel sorry for you. Your kids go to school and tease this person's child about it. Stop talking about others and raise your kids right. Just because someone does something wrong doesn't make the person a horrible person.
Choke
The Minnesota Vikings are now in the book - at least the Webster's dictionary because they are the epitome of the term "drop the ball."
Blinded by ignorance
In response to the individual from Baxter who's upset about elected officials who line their pockets at taxpayers' expense, you have the gall to be upset over the water treatment plant costs? We who live in greater Crow Wing County in the entire region who shop in Brainerd and Baxter donate a half a percent sales tax to pay for your sewage disposal and yet we end up paying for own septic systems. It seems to me you are blinded by your ignorance. If you have all the answers, it's time to step forward and run for public office yourself.
Overstaffed
Referring to the school board, I've been a taxpayer all my life and I think a lot of us taxpayers have stood up for what we think, and I figure if they can get rid of 90 personnel, I believe the school system was well overstaffed. And maybe on some more of the reductions, the school board could start paying their own medical insurance?
