Little Falls 62, Bemidji 53

LITTLE FALLS -- The Bemidji Lumberjacks and Little Falls Flyers girls' basketball teams combined for 54 fouls Friday as Little Falls managed a 62-53 victory.

"It was a very physical game," Little Falls coach Joe Davich said. "We really couldn't get into a rhythm because of the number of fouls that were called."

Rachel Davich led the Flyers with 23 points and 15 rebounds and Becky Anderson added 17.

"Becky Anderson literally carried us in the first half," Joe Davich said.

Kristy Wallner paced the Lumberjacks with a game-high 32 points.

Rachel Davich paced the Flyers in the second half by hitting 13-of-20 free throws. Both teams played full-court pressure defense, leading to the frequent whistles.

"The key to our game was that we just didn't allow them to get easy layups," Joe Davich said. "As a result of that, we were able to control the tempo of the game. Even though the lead seesawed back and forth, we were able to hold on to that by not giving them easy layups."
