NORTH ST. PAUL (AP) -- Police are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man who was killed by a Metro Transit Bus while crossing the street.
Thomas A. Scott of North St. Paul got off the bus around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday and was crossing the street with a green light when he was hit by the bumper of another bus, according to the State Patrol.
The driver was turning onto the road and never saw Scott, said Robert Gibbons, Metro Transit's director of customer services.
''The driver knew he hit something and stopped immediately,'' Gibbons said.
The driver took a standard drug and alcohol test. Gibbons said he didn't know how long he had worked for Metro Transit. He was driving a route that went to downtown St. Paul.
