MOORHEAD - Drew Olson scored two goals and Joe Frazer had the other as the Brainerd Warriors tied the 10th-ranked Moorhead Spuds 3-3 in an overtime Section 8-2A boys' hockey game Thursday.
The Warriors fell behind 2-0 in the first but regrouped and played well the rest of the way behind goalie Kyle Peterson, who finished with 27 saves.
"For whatever reason the way we played in the first was kind of average," Warriors coach Ty Eigner said. "We just didn't compete in that period."
Frazer scored in the second to pull Brainerd within 2-1.
"The momentum we had in the first five minutes of the second was very good," Eigner said. "They got the momentum back and were on the power play for four minutes. We did a good job on the penalty kill, then we got it to 2-1, but they scored not long after that so that was kind of frustrating."
Olson tallied twice in the third.
"We came out in the third and got it to 3-2, then Drew had a real nice individual effort to make it 3-3," Eigner said. "Both teams had good opportunities late in the third and in overtime."
