DETROIT LAKES -- Ruby L. Doran, 83, Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, Jan. 2, news, at St. Mary's Nursing Center of Detroit Lakes.
She was born June 11, 1916, in Marshall County, to Ole and Mary (Loseth) Hall. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls. She went on to receivie a teaching certificate and taught country school in rural Thief River Falls. She married John Doran on June 22, 1938, in Thief River Falls. They lived in rural Thief River Falls, before moving to Newfolden in 1942. The moved to Detroit Lakes in 1958. She had been a resident at St. Mary's Nursing Center since Oct. 1999. She was active at First Lutheran Church and the First Lutheran Quilters. She also did volunteer work for both Emmanuel Nursing Home and St. Mary's Nursing Center in Detroit Lakes.
Survivors include two daughters, Myrna Doran, Minneapolis, and JoAnn Svendsen, Nisswa; a son, Rodney Doran, Buffalo, New York; five grandchildren; and three grandchildren.
Her husband, her parents, three brothers, Clarence, Olaf and John, six sisters, Inga, Laura, Mary, Eleanor, Alice and Mildred, and two infant sisters, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church of Detroit Lakes with Pastor David Peterson. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery of Detroit Lakes.
Friends may call at West-Kjos Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes from 4-8 p.m. today and at the church an hour before services Wednesday.
