Ruzich competes in biathlon in Alaska

Jenna Ruzich, 15, Baxter, completed the three-race U.S. Team Trials Dec. 26-30 at Anchorage, Alaska.

She finished 14th in the 17-18-year-old Youth Women Class against the top athletes from Maine, Minnesota and Alaska. Final position was based on the best two of the three-race series within a three-day period.

First Victory League meeting Jan. 16

The first meeting for the Victory League 2009 season is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Jan. 16 at the VFW in Little Falls.

The VFW is located west of the Highways 10 and 27 intersection.

The agenda will deal with new Minnesota Baseball Association rules, scheduling, playoffs and more.

Brainerd elementary wrestling to start

Starting dates for Brainerd elementary school wrestling have been announced.

Third- through fifth-graders will start practice Monday. They will practice Mondays and Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Brainerd High School wrestling room located at the BHS-South Campus.

Kindergarten through second-graders will start Jan. 19. They will practice Mondays and Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Forestview Middle School in Baxter.
