McGREGOR -- Eveleth V. Sylte, 93, McGregor, formerly of Rice Lake, Wis., died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Riverwood Extended Care Center in Aitkin.
She was born Sept. 23, 1909, in Grygla to Gilbert and Gina (Ostby) Schock. She moved with her family at an early age to Amery, Wis., where she attended schools. She worked as a telephone operator in Amery. She married Omey A. Sylte in July 1930 in Stillwater. They lived in Amery and moved to Lawler in 1944 where her husband was manager of the Co-op Store. They moved to Rice Lake in 1948 and she lived there until moving to McGregor in the mid-1980s. She worked at Birchwood Manufacturing Plant in Rice Lake for many years. She lived at the Riverwood Extended Care Center for the past year.
Survivors include two sons, Omey Dale, Rice Lake, and Dwayne Sylte, Rice Lake, Wis.; a daughter, Elaine Kulju, McGregor; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, four brothers and two sisters died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church in McGregor with the Rev. Dan Heath officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday in Orchard Beach Cemetery in Rice Lake with the Rev. Michael Pancoast officiating.
Friends may call an hour before services Sunday at the church.
