20 years ago (1980)

Jackie Price has been added to the winter figure skating instructing staff, Phyllis Frankum of the Vacationland Figure Skating Club announces. Head instructor is Linda Worth, an active member of the Professional Skaters Guild of America.

30 years ago (1970)

Some 5,000 spectators and 200 entrants turned out for two days of snowmobile racing at Merrifield Saturday and Sunday. The big winner was Jerry Rudbeck.

40 years ago (1960)

Brainerd's new City Council elected Barney Winkelman as president for the coming year and named George Krueger as vice president.

60 years ago (1940)

John Holvick, Brainerd, was renamed chairman of the board of Crow Wing County commissioners at the annual meeting. Mr. Holvick will begin his sixth year as head of the Board.

80 years ago (1920)

-- Charles Stadlbaur has gone to Minneapolis and will return with a number of Hupmobiles.

-- Judge and Mrs. Walter F. Wieland entertained New Year's Eve at dinner for Judge C. W. Stanton and his daughter. Covers were placed for fifteen.

100 years ago (1900)

Johnny Jackson had the misfortune to cut his leg quite badly, this being the second time he tried to cut that leg off this winter.
