DAGGETT BROOK -- Eugene J. Witt, 78, resident of Dagget Brook Township, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at his home. Eugene was born on Oct. 8, 1925, in Little Falls, Minn., to Vine and Anna (Deering) Witt. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was a member of VFW Post #1647. He retired from Thelen Heating and Roofing.
Survivors include sweetheart Colleen Johnston; daughters Rose (Roger) Roquette of Anoka, Delores "Pudge" (Jim) Hurrle of Little Falls; son, Eugene "Timber" (JoAnn) Witt of Brainerd; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six sisters, Helen Honstrom of Little Falls, Betty Zimmerman of Little Falls, Ev Prozinski of Little Falls, Dolores Sobcobiak of Minneapolis, Bernie Allie of Minneapolis, and Bunnie Buckely of Anoka; two brothers, Joe Witt of Minneapolis, and Jerome Witt of Minneapolis; and Colleen's children, Suszanne Veith, Milton Johnston and Linda Olson.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marie, son Lyle, and brothers and sisters.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with Pastor Harvey Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd. Military Honors provided by VFW Post 1647. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd.
