WADENA -- Raymond Wesley Jacobson, 86, Wadena, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at Little Bit of Country Senior Care Home in Wadena.
He was born May 6, 1916, in Paddock Township in Ottertail County to Thorvald and Anna (Dybivik) Jacobson. He graduated from Sebeka High School in 1935 and attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. He served in the Army from 1942-45 in the European Theater as a B-26 bomber aerial gunner and flew in 35 missions. He married Olive Esping on May 17, 1952, in Waseca. They farmed in the Sebeka area until 1966. They then moved to Minneapolis where he worked as a machinist until retiring in 1979. He then moved to Wadena. He was active in work for Bethel, Medicine Lake and Zion Lutheran churches. He served on the board of trustees for the Bible school and seminary of the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations for 10 years. He was a resident of Little Bit of Country Senior Care Home in Wadena for 15 months.
Survivors include three brothers, Marvin Jacobson, Spokane, Wash., the Rev. Kenneth Jacobson, Beatrice, Neb., and the Rev. Arvild Jacobson, Moorhead.
In addition to his wife, who died March 1, 1997, two brothers, Herbert and Carroll, and three sisters, Helen Schueler, Gertrude Barbour and Gladys Tebben, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Wadena with the Rev. Stephen Papillon officiating. Burial will be in Wadena Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour before services Saturday at the church.
