Pine River-Backus boys lose in overtime

BECKER -- The Pine River-Backus Tigers boys' basketball team was outscored 9-5 in overtime and lost 51-47 to Becker in the championship game of the St. Cloud Cathedral Tournament Saturday.

"It was a good ballgame," Pine River-Backus coach Bob Nelson said. "Becker's a good team and they played good defense."

Micah Johnson of PR-B had 17 points to lead the Tigers.

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Staples-Motley Cardinals dropped a 45-38 decision to Rochester Century in the fifth-place game of the Rochester Rotary boys' basketball invitational Saturday.

Jeff Brever led the Cardinals in scoring with 18 points.

S-M led 20-13 at halftime but was outscored 32-18 in the second half.
