AITKIN -- Helen M. Skaj, 63, rural Aitkin, died Sunday, Dec. 31, news, at the Riverwood Health Care Center in Aitkin.
She was born June 25, 1937, in Covington, Tenn., to Elmer and Vivian (Pilkington) Caudle. She attended school in Covington. She worked as a material coordinator for Mead Packaging Co. in Chicago. She married John Skaj on Oct. 7, 1967, at McGregor. She had lived in Covington, Chicago and returned to the Aitkin area in 1994. She was a member of the No. 415 Paper Union in Chicago.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, James Skaj, Rochester, Mike Skaj, San Jose, Calif., and David Skaj, Malmo; four daughters, Wanda Bucholz, Horace, Kimberly Fuller, Alvarado, Texas, Ann Amundson, Duluth, and Teraesa Ward, Bowling Green, Ky; a foster brother, Paul Elzey, Covington, Tenn., a foster sister, Hazel Wittmore, Chicago; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Her parents died earlier.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Willim Funeral Home Chapel in Aitkin with Pastor Don Norman officiating. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery in Kimberly.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday and two hours prior to services.
