20 years ago (1981)

Brainerd's revamped bus service began today complete with a new mini-bus and revised schedule and routes.

30 years ago (1971)

A new oval track and a new format for the grand prix are the two outstanding features of this year's Paul Bunyan Snowmobile Derby. The sixth annual running of the Derby is scheduled for Donnybrooke race track on Jan. 9 and 10.

40 years ago (1961)

Brainerd's City Council was asked to give consideration and approval to a new county radio system which will enable local police to be in direct contact with the state highway patrol., sheriff's office and nearby communities.

60 years ago (1941)

Storm sewer certificates of indebtedness totaling $40,000 were sold by the city at an interest rate of one and one-quarter percent and with a $51 premium. This interest rte is allegedly the lowest ever paid by a city on its bonds in the State of Minnesota.

80 years ago (1921)

A bouncing baby boy came to gladden the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Boyd on Tuesday, December 28.

100 years ago (1901)

The dancing party given by Ascalon Commandry at the Masonic Hall on New Year's night was a most delightful social occasion and thoroughly enjoyed by the large throng of invited guests.
