Twenty-one entries participated in the inaugural event of the 2013 Crosslake Ice Racing season Saturday.
Taking first place in the studded tire class was Matt Borden of Merrifield with second going to Taylor Pratt of Merrifield and third to Mark Peterson of Brainerd.
In the 15-year-old and under class, Dylan Nelson of Merrifield was first, with Logan Pratt of Merrifield taking second, and his brother, Logan Pratt, finishing third.
In the rubber tire class, Matt Borden was first, with Shawn Pratt of Merrifield taking second, and Larry Juaire of Brainerd finishing third.
Ice racing will take place every Saturday at noon on Big Pine Lake, south of downtown Crosslake in front of the Cedar Chest until ice conditions no longer warrant.
Spectators are welcome to view the races. Take Big Pine Trail east from County Road 3 approximately one-quarter mile to the public access. Follow a plowed road on the lake to the parking lot on the Southwest side of the track. There is no charge for admission.
