BEMIDJI — Brainerd High School graduate Reid Mimmack made his first collegiate start in goal as the Bemidji State University Beavers lost to nationally ranked Miami University 6-3 in a non-conference game Saturday at Sanford Center.
In 59 minutes, 6 seconds in net, Mimmack stopped 23 of 29 shots. The Beavers pulled Mimmack for an extra attacker for the last 54 seconds.
Miami scored one power-play and one short-handed goal. Forward Austin Czarnik led the RedHawks with five assists while Riley Barber added a short-handed goal and three assists.
Radoslav Illo paced BSU with his first multi-goal effort of the season.
The Beavers (5-8-3 overall, 5-4-1 WCHA) resume WCHA play Dec. 6-7 when they travel to Michigan Tech.

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — Brainerd High School graduate Matt Pohlkamp scored for Bowling Green State University as the Falcons lost to 16th-ranked Lake Superior State 4-3 Friday in a WCHA game.
The freshman scored at 12:54 of the second period when he fired a slap shot that was initially blocked by goalie Kevin Kapalka, but the puck trickled over Kapalka’s left shoulder for the Falcons’ first score.
In 16 games this season, Pohlkamp has three goals and two assists.
The Falcons also lost 4-3 Saturday, dropping Bowling Green’s record to 6-7-3overall, 4-5-1 in league play.
Bowling Green will be back on home ice next weekend, hosting the University of Alabama-Huntsville Friday and Saturday.
