For the second week in a row, the Brainerd Warrior sophomore team got off to a fast start and defeated the Willmar Cardinals 38-0.
Chris Pederson scored the first of his three touchdowns on a 26-yard run in the first quarter.
Mitch Rahn followed with a 1-yard TD run.
Also in the first quarter, Allen Jevning returned a punt 68 yards to the 1-yard line. He ran it in for a TD on the next play.
Josh Howieson threw a 28-yard pass to Pederson for a TD to build a 26-0 first quarter lead.
Pederson caught a 1-yard pass for a score in the second quarter and Howieson ran in from the 9 and ran for the only 2-point conversion to complete the scoring.
The Warriors ended with 401 total offensive yards.
The defense was equally dominant as Brainerd held the Cardinals to 167 total yards. The Warriors also forced six turnovers. Intercepting passes were Chris Pederson, Matt Hill (2), Aaron Martin, and Tristan Brecht. Taylor Borders recovered a fumble.
The Warriors travel to Alexandria next Thursday.
