DELANO — Payge Fitterer was runner-up at No. 3 singles and the Brainerd Warriors finished third at the Delano tournament Thursday.
Fitterer won two of three singles matches, as did Sara Wennerstrand at No. 1 and Caitlin Steffen at No. 2. Brooke Mimmack-Ashley Fitterer won two of three at No. 1 doubles as did Shayla Metz-Claire Siekas at No. 4.
“All of our girls got to play three matches,” Warriors coach Lisa Salo said. “We played many tiebreakers — some we were on the winning end, some we didn’t win.
“It was a great learning opportunity which will’ only make us stronger. To take third out of eight teams was very good. A lot of the teams were metro teams that we don’t get to see. It was good competition.”
