Posted: February 26, 2013 - 12:09am

MINNEAPOLIS — Dani Cameranesi, a senior forward for Blake, was named the winner of the Ms. Hockey Award by Let’s Play Hockey newspaper Sunday at the annual Ms. Hockey Awards Banquet.

Considered one of the top players in the nation in her age group, Cameranesi led the Bears to their fourth Class 1A state championship with 57 goals, 38 assists (95 points) in 27 games, good for second in the state.

She tallied at least one point in all but one game this season, and recorded 23 multi-point and 19 multi-goal games. She notched 12 hat tricks and in nine games scored five or more points. Prior to the first game of the state tournament, Cameranesi had not been held without a point since Feb. 4, 2012.

The captain of the silver medal-winning U.S. Women’s National Under-18 Team at the IIHF World U18 Championship, Cameranesi helped Blake to a 22-5-3 overall record and its first trip to the state tournament since 2009. A two-year captain and the school’s all-time points leader, she has been named to the all-state team four consecutive seasons.

Cameranesi will continue her hockey career at the University of Minnesota.

She owns a 3.3 grade-point average and has volunteered with Feed My Starving Children, Mary’s Place and Toys for Tots. She has also served as a team leader at her church’s Vacation Bible School.

Senior Goalie of Year

Sydney Rossman of Minnetonka was named the Let’s Play Hockey Senior Goalie of the Year Sunday.

One of the state’s top goalies the past four seasons, Rossman compiled a 16-3-0 record this season with a 1.13 goals-against average and a save percentage of .937.

She allowed one or fewer goals in 14 of her 19 starts, including four shutouts. She ended the season on a nine-game winning streak.

Minnesota’s top-ranked goalie the past three years in the Minnesota Hockey Reebok High Performance Program, Rossman backstopped the Skippers to the 2012 and 2013 Class 2A state titles. She will continue her hockey career at Quinnipiac in the fall.

Rossman owns a 3.8 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society. She has participated with the Tonka Leadership Challenge and volunteers her time with It’s Your Choice and Dinomights Inner City Youth Hockey.
