MAPLE GROVE — Brock Saatzer’s three goals and two assists helped the Brainerd Warriors to an 8-0 victory against the winless Maple Grove Crimson in a Northern Division game Monday.
The win helped Brainerd remain tied with Anoka for second place in the division.
“We only had eight players tonight that were able to play,” said Warriors head coach Todd Person, “but they all did a great job with the minutes we needed them to play.”
Devin Annable also scored three goals for the Warriors, who beat Maple Grove 5-1 Feb. 4.
“Saatzer had a fantastic game and Cody Vleck did a good job of staying close to the net, which allowed him to pick up the first goal as well as a couple assists. Zachary Denny played the whole game in the defensive position and really did a good job of keeping the puck out of the zone.”
Vleck added one goal and two assists, Randy Volkmuth fired in the final goal of the game and Denny notched two assists for the 6-3 Warriors.
Brainerd goalie Harlee Annable saved all three of the Crimson’s shots.
“This was a good win for our team, especially after we dropped the last two in a row,” said Person.
