Brainerd High School graduate Katy Etterman finished in the top five in diving in the women’s Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 20-23 at the University of Minnesota.
In 1-meter diving, the University of Minnesota sophomore placed fifth in the prelims (291.75) and fifth in the finals (316.60).
In 3-meter, Etterman was fourth in the prelims (348.45) out of 41 competitors and eighth in the finals (313.55).
In platform, she finished 18th out of 32 divers with 238.70 points.
Etterman’s performance qualified her for Zone competition March 11-13 at Houston, which is the qualification round for the NCAA meet.
Minnesota won the Big Ten championship with 831.5 points. Indiana was second with 671.5.
